Series Preview
• Dayton travels to Indianapolis on Tuesday for a mid-week game at Butler. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.

Tommy Konrad will make his first start as a Flyer on the mound in a declared pitching staff day. Konrad has a 5.87 ERA and five strikeouts through 7 2/3 innings pitched this season. Entering Tuesday, Konrad has a total of 19 career appearances on the mound.

Mitchem became Dayton’s career strikeout leader (269) after striking out a career-high 14 during six shutout relief innings which allowed UD to win an 11-inning game, 13-9. Scouting the Bulldogs
• Butler enters Tuesday’s game with a 3-7 record. Last weekend BU lost a three-game series at Belmont in Nashville. Tuesday’s game will be the Bulldogs’ home-opener.Â
• First baseman Pat Gelwicks leads the team in hits (13) and batting average (.394), but just has two RBI through nine starts.
• Jimmy Risi has driven in 10 of Butler’s 42 runs on two homeruns and six hits.
• The Bulldogs were picked to finish fifth in the Horizon League by conference head coaches. The league features six baseball teams and a double round-robin scheduling format of three-game series.
• Last season BU was 23-28-1 and 11-14-1 during conference play, finishing fourth.
