Flyer Student-Athletes Are Part Of Record Graduating Class

Undergraduate Commencement Is Sunday, May 12 At UD Arena

2019 Flyer Graduates DAYTON – More than 1,600 undergraduates will receive degrees at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, May 12, at the University of Dayton Arena. And among them will be more than 90 Flyer student-athletes who are graduating with impressive accomplishments in the classroom and in their respective sports, and will continue that excellence in the next steps of their journey.

The University expects to set records for the total number of spring graduates (including undergraduate, law, graduate, and doctoral students) with 2,000+ and the total number of graduates in a single academic year with 3,000+.

The commencement ceremonies will be live streamed online. Watch  the undergraduate ceremony here.

The undergraduate ceremony will include an honorary degree awarded to Ro Nita Hawes-Saunders, CEO of the world-renowned Dayton Contemporary Dance Company.


Here are some plans of University of Dayton graduating student-athletes from the class of 2019:

Baseball
Connor Echols – Working as a District Manager for Aldi in the Springfield, Ohio division. Will be in charge of inventory and cash audits, as well as hiring for the stores in the district.
Tyler Henry – Accepted an outside sales position with Crown Equipment.
Ben Hughes – Taking a gap year and then attending medical school.
Bailey Montoya  – Hopes to go into coaching.

Men's Basketball
Josh Cunningham – Pursuing playing professional basketball.
Ryan Mikesell – Returning for his final season in 2019-20 while attending graduate school.
Jack Westerfield – Going to graduate school and seeking a GA position with a college basketball program.

Women's Basketball
Lauren Cannatelli – Attending the University of Dayton Master of Physician Assistant Practice program starting in the fall.
Maddy Dennis – Planning to study Pharmacy at Curtain University in Perth, Western Australia, and graduate in 2022 with a masters in Pharmacy. This coursework starts in January and in the meantime she plans to backpack across America and then Europe.
Ashleigh Parkinson – Pursuing a master's degree in clinical mental health psychology with the intention to become a psychologist in a VA clinic. 
Tiaera Phillips – Taking a gap year and working at a physical therapy clinic.

Men's Cross Country
Chris Negri – Starting graduate school at the University of Dayton in mechanical engineering.
Spencer Danielson – Working as a software engineer in Garmin's Avionics division in Kansas City. He will be on the team that builds the Data Concentrator Units' software for the Garmin avionics system which is mainly responsible for data circulation and communication with on-plane systems.
Luke Hoover – Starting the graduate program in mechanical engineering at the University of Dayton. He will work on his master's thesis with Air Force Research Lab (AFRL), affiliated with Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), on a project involving the material characterization of additively manufactured aerospace alloys in ballistic impact scenarios. Additionally, he will continue racing under the training of Coach Jason Ordway and sponsorship by Columbus Running Company's elite team in hopes of achieving the Olympic Trials standard in the marathon.
Jordan Koczenasz – Awaiting admission to medical school.

Women's Cross Country/Track & Field
Emily Borchers – Pursuing a master's degree in communication with a focus in health communication at University of Dayton and using fifth year of athletic eligibility and participating in both indoor and outdoor track.  
Marie Harla - Starting a dietetic internship in community health promotion at the Medical University of South Carolina. Following the internship, she will take the RDN credentialing exam, and then plans to specialize in sports nutrition and working with collegiate athletes.
Meghan Krawiec – Working for Calspan in Buffalo, N.Y. as a test engineer in their automotive division, performing vehicle crash testing.
Emily Jones – Attending graduate school to pursue a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling with plans to work within social services with a specialty in addiction and mental health.   
Elizabeth Michalenko – Accepted a full-time position as an Engineer 1 at Pike Engineering in Pittsburgh, working in electrical substation design. Also pursuing a master of arts in science writing from Johns Hopkins University.  
Alyssa Ramstetter – Pursuing a career within Brand Consultancy and Digital Design.  
Victoria Stallkamp – Working in chemical engineering at Sherwin-Williams as a junior research engineer in Cleveland, Ohio.  
Allie Triskett – Furthering her education at Duke University where she will earn a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree.  
Abbie VanFossen – Studying for CPA exams this summer as the first step to attaining her CPA license. In September, she will begin work full-time in the Cincinnati office of PwC, a multinational professional services firm, as a PCS Assurance Associate performing private company audit services.  
Taylor Vernot - Attending Kettering College of Medical Arts, pursuing a master's degree in physician assistant studies. 

Football
Jason Balogh – Seeking a marketing job in the Chicago area.
Matt Brandeis – Returning for his final season of football while attending graduate school at UD.
Joe Bruni – Working as a technical staff recruiter for TEKsystems in Chicago.
Marlin Bunnell – Working for Consolidated Precision Products near Cleveland.
David Di Silvestro – Graduating in December after an internship with Bell Helicopter in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
Lucas Edwards – Attending medical school at Ohio State University's College of Medicine.
J.P. Forcucci – Working in marketing and sales for RR Donnelly & Sons.
A.J. Foster – Seeking a marketing or sales position in the Midwest or Florida.
Ben Gauthier – Teaching and coaching in the Cleveland area.
Alex Jeske – Working as a Strategy Analyst for Aon in its Global Health Solutions group in Chicago.
Kyle Kaparos – Is interviewing with a couple of companies in Chicago for a logistics or procurement position.
Jake Kempt -- Pursuing a career in technical sales.
Shane Lefever – Hoping to obtain an accounting position in Chicago or Denver.
David Leisring – Working in GE Aviation's Financial Management Program in Cincinnati.
Andrew Lynn – Graduating in August and then pursuing a career in energy infrastructure engineering.
Christian McDermott – Looking for an entry-level accounting position.
Christopher Papalia – Has taken a position with Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
Matthew Rightnour – Studying for the CPA exam this summer and taking an audit position at Grant Thornton in Cleveland
Isaac Sexton – Working as a process controls engineer at Valero Energy's refinery in Memphis.
Sean Smith – Hoping for a career in the NFL as a punter. Was in the Baltimore Ravens rookie minicamp.
Dante Stefanini – Working as a financial advisor at Lakeshore Wealth Strategies in Rosemont, Ill.
Adam Stull – Working as a technical recruiter in Chicago.
Nick Surges – Has taken a financial position with Aon.
Matt Tunnacliffe – Training to be a long snapper in pro football, and has signed a free agent contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. Has an offer in business in Cincinnati.
Tucker Yinger – Working as a technical sales rep for GTS Associates.

Men's Golf
Jake Gilkison – Working for Tyler Technologies, locally, as an implementation consultant.
Ryan Flick – Working with Baughn Insurance Group in Centerville, Ohio.

Rowing
Taylor Alexander – After graduating in December, moved to Los Angeles and began working at Creative Artists Agency, one of the biggest talent agencies in the world. She is focused on human rights/social justice causes.
Hannah Butler – Accepted a job offer from Montgomery County Environmental Services in their GIS department.
Liz DeNardo – Working at WPAFB.
Kiley Tempert – Moving to Cincinnati and studying for the CPA. She's accepted a job working for Ernst & Young in their assurance practice at their Cincinnati office.
 
Men's Soccer
Aidan Bean – Finishing his master's in biomedical sciences at Dayton next year and then applying to medical school this summer with the hopes of starting in the fall of 2020.
Dennis Kluba – Seeking a marketing position in Saint Louis or Chicago.
 
Women's Soccer
Keagin Collie – Planning to go back to Canada and apply to medical schools.
Kaelyn Johns - Joining the Army as a Criminal Investigations Special Agent with plans to get a master in forensic psychology and eventually go into federal law enforcement.
Beth Kamphaus – Attending Boston College Law School in the fall.
Quincy Kellett – Working towards her certificate in moderate to severe disabilities while finding a job as a special education teacher, preferably back home in a Chicago.    
Nadia Pestell - Admitted to the Faculty of Education at Western University, Bachelor of Education program in London, Ontario as Primary/Junior - French as a Second Language teaching subject.
Sara Robertson – Pursuing a career in the biomechanics field of engineering.
Dani Ruffolo – Continuing to pursue her patented business, Handy Hats, and planning on applying for the MBA program at UD.
 
Softball
Kyle Davidson – Planning to attend law school.
Kelly Fitzgerald – Attending North Georgia to begin her physical therapy doctoral program.
Jessica Gilliam – Attending Ohio State to begin a mechanical engineering master's degree program with a thesis study in baseball biomechanics.
Madi Maloof – Attending Butler to begin her physician's assistant program.
Aspyn Novak – Accepted a digital marketing internship in Barcelona, Spain.
Lisa Tassi – Playing professional softball in Switzerland before returning to the United States to continue her career in special education.

Men's Tennis
Jordan Benjamin – Pursuing a career in professional tennis.
Langford Hills – Returning to UD for the fall semester to complete his MBA before pursuing a professional tennis career.
Lorenzo Rollhauser – Returning to UD to finish and receive his engineering degree in the fall.
 
Women's Tennis
Kristina Benjamin - Deciding between graduate school programs.
Mattea Kilstofte - Accepted a position on the business end of Amazon and is awaiting placement.

Volleyball
Kendyll Brown – Planning to play professional volleyball in Europe, hopefully Spain.
Lauren Bruns – Attending Jacksonville University for the MBA program and serving as a grad assistant for the volleyball team.
