NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton sophomore
Casey Bogues was named the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive time, taking the honor in the first two weeks this year. She earned the honor for the week of March 22-29.
Bogues broke UD's school record in the javelin with her mark of 49.20m (the previous record was 48.99m set in 2018 by
Lillian Cook).
With her record-breaking throw, Bogues won the javelin at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open on Saturday, March 27. It's the second consecutive meet she has won gold in the event. Finishing right behind Bogues was Olympic athlete Chantae McMillan, who was competing unattached.
Bogues not only broke the Dayton school record, but she also broke the track and meet records (set by McMillan in 2012).
Bogue's mark is currently first in the Atlantic 10 and NCAA Great Lakes, 12th in the NCAA East, and 28th in all of NCAA.
She also had a PR in the long jump and also ran a leg in Dayton's 4x100 relay that placed second.
The Flyers are back in action this Friday and Saturday, April 2-3 at University of Cincinnati's Oliver Nikoloff Invitational at Gettler Stadium.
