Maddie Kapsimalis have been named the
Ohio's CollegeAdvantage Student-Athletes of the Week. These awards are for contests held Feb. 26-March 3.
Castillo announced his return to the lineup with authority this past weekend, hitting .563 (9-for-16) with two doubles, a home run, six RBI and four runs scored. The Hialeah, Fla., native had multiple hits in each of Dayton's games against High Point, helping lead the offense to its best showing of the young season, scoring 30 runs in the series win over the Panthers. Castillo had a three-hit performance in game two, launching his first career grand slam in the process. He came back to go 4-for-6 in the series-clinching win with two doubles and two runs scored.
Kapsimalis, who hails from Glenview, Ill., led the Flyers on offense with a .444 average while also posting a perfect fielding percentage with six putouts and three assists in nine chances at second base over the weekend. In Sunday's narrow 2-1 loss to Northern Illinois, she went 3-for-3 at the plate with a career-high three doubles while also collecting three putouts and one assist. Over four games for the Flyers at the WKU Hilltopper Spring Fling, Kapsimalis posted a .545 on-base percentage and a .778 slugging percentage.
