Day One Results
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The University of Dayton women's track and field team opened up the weekend at the Gladstein Invitational on Friday at Indiana University.
The Flyers got off to a strong start, collecting numerous top five finishes and setting multiple personal records.
In the one mile run,
Katie Ollier took home second place with a time of 5:04.61. Nicole Armstrong was close behind in fifth place and set a new personal best (5:07.46).
Katy Garcia took fourth-place in the pentathlon with a point total of 3246. That was a top five all-time performance at Dayton. She used a time of 2:34.20 and a fourth-place finish in the 800m to earn that performance. Garcia also tied for first in the high jump (1.70m), a new personal record.
In the 3000m event,
Megan Collins posted a time of 10:23.70, a new personal record, and finished 21
st out of 40 runners.
Mary List also set a personal best with a time of 10:25.79.
In the 60m hurdles,
Maddi Schmidt finished 12
th with a time of 9.09, her top performance this season.
Kassy Thomas posted a top 15 performance in the 400m, an event that had 50 competitors total.
In the shot put,
Miranda Nelson finished 11
th overall out of 27 competitors with a mark of 13.16m.
In the pole vault,
Ashley DeMange and
Hanna Krizmanic both hit 3.80m marks to tie for fourth place. That performance gave DeMange a new personal record.
In the 5000m event, Bridget McElhenny had the best time of her career, finishing in 18:46.13.
The Flyers will finish up the Gladstein Invitational on Saturday with events beginning at 10 a.m.
