ANTHONY CORBITT - Men's Basketball 1986-1990
Anthony Corbitt, according to ibiblio.org is the ninth best player to play at UD between the years 1978-1994. Corbitt, who is fifth in UD all time blocks with 82 is also a member of the All-Century team which is a 20 man team made up of the best players from the first 100 years of Dayton basketball.
Corbitt was a major influence for the Flyers as soon as he joined the team as a freshman by leading all freshmen with 10.6 ppg. He was part of what many called the greatest recruiting class in UD history, which scored 41 percent of the team’s points and 43 percent of the team’s rebounds in 1987. His career stats are proof of hard work and dedication to the game with .545 fg pct., .637 ft. pct., 1240 pts., 149 asst., and 549 reb.
His hard work is evident as well as his commitment to his team in a quote given to Kevin P. O’Malley of Flyer News, Nov. 23, 1987 “I was happy to contribute for the team as quickly as I did last season. With my off-season improvements, I hope to improve my part by averaging around 16 points and 8 rebounds a game.”
After an outstanding career at UD, Corbitt was drafted in the 2nd round of the CBA draft to Wichita Falls.
