BERNARD "BERNIE" KRESS - Football - 1966-1968

Bernie Kress was born on December 18, 1946, son of Mr. and Mrs. Johannes Kress. His hometown was Akron Ohio, where he starred at St. Vincent High School. Bernie signed with the University of Dayton August 11, 1965 as a Halfback. At 5’10’’, 190, Bernie had his best year his senior season which he recorded 155 carries for a total of 673 yards, averaging 4.3 yards a carry. Bernie also added 8 rushing touchdowns along with 1 reception TD.

He finished his career with outstanding statistics such as 307 carries for 1362 total yards, averaging 4.4 yards a carry. He finished with 14 total rushing touchdowns along with 2 by the pass. Bernie graduated with the school record of all time scoring leader with 100 total points.
