KEVIN HOYNG – Football 2004-2007
Few players in any sport at the University of Dayton have combined winning with statistical excellence as well as Kevin Hoyng. A four-year starter and two-time captain, Hoyng quarterbacked Dayton to the 2007 Division I-AA Mid-Major National Championship and was named the MVP of the Gridiron Classic bowl game.
He is the Flyer career record holder in passing yardage (8,862 yards, 2,000 more than next closest player) and touchdowns thrown (59 TD, 11 more). Hoyng is also the UD career record holder in passing efficiency (158.1) and total offense (9,528), and is second in career completions (862).
As a senior, Hoyng was 251 of 384 passing (.654) for 3,317 yards (which are all Dayton single-season records) and his 31 TD's are now second.
He was the 2007 Pioneer Football League Offensive Player of the Year and two-time First Team All-PFL.
