TED "SHORTY" SHARPENTER - Men's Basketball, Football, Baseball - 1924-1928
Ted “Shorty” Sharpenter was an outstanding star of the University of Dayton offensive line in the 1920s. Coming from Chicago, Illinois, he stood at a mammoth 6’6” and 210 pounds. Wearing number 45 and number 16, Sharpenter was a devastating force at center and was considered a star of the University of Dayton football team. Not only was Sharpenter an impact football player, his basketball skills were also well-renowned. His rebounding skills are immortalized with the Shorty Sharpenter Trophy being presented to UD’s top rebounder each year.
