TOM HATTON - Men's Basketball - 1959-1962
Tom Hatton came to the University of Dayton and made huge impacts instantly especially on the basketball court. As a freshman, he scored the second most points on his freshman team and was said to be a “playmaker with a good eye” according to Bob Ziegler of The Dayton Flyer News, Jan. 16, 1959. Tom made his first varsity start as a sophomore in the Flyer’s 1959-1960 season opener against Central State. Three games later he would score 21 points against Toledo.
From there on out he was a consistent contributor for the Flyers who “Shot well from the outside and repeatedly passed to the center, the pivotal point of the Flyer’s offense.” as told by Ed Alexander of The UD Flyer News, Dec. 14, 1959. Tom also played baseball for the University of Dayton in 1960 and batted .333.
