WILLIAM LANGE - Football - 1946-1950 
 

Bill Lange was born in Lima, Ohio and in the year 1928. At the University of Dayton, Bill started at tackle for the 1947, ’48, and ‘49 teams. After Bill’s senior season in 1949, he was named a first team All-Ohio tackle. Bill was not just a football athlete while at Dayton, but also a member of the Football Monogram Club, Physical Education Club, and a participant in Intramural Sports. Bill was an education major during his time at Dayton. 


After Dayton, Bill was drafted in the 30th round of the NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams where he would start at offensive and defensive right guard as a rookie on their 1950 NFL Championship team. Bill would play 6 seasons in the NFL, 1950-52 with the Los Angeles Rams, 1953 with the Baltimore Colts, and then 1954 and ’55 with the Chicago Cardinals.

During Bill’s NFL career, he was considered to “one of pro football’s top blockers." Once Bill’s playing days were over, he moved back to Dayton where he would become a trucking company executive.
