GRADLIN PRUITT - Football - 1977-1980

Gradlin Pruitt was a running back/flanker for UD. The highlight of his career was when he scored 2 TD’s in the NCAA division H1 championship against Ithaca College. He was also MVP of 1981 Stagg Bowl.

After he left UD, he played for the Dayton Jets, a flag football league, in 1999. He was 39 when he played.

After his sophomore year, it was decided that Pruitt’s talent wasn’t being fully utilized by playing his current position of flanker.  The coaching staff decided to switch him to tailback, which paid off.  In his first full season as UD tailback, he rushed for over 1,000 yards.  The 5’9’’ 170 pound Pruitt also set a school record by rushing over 100 yards in 6 games.
