ROBERT "BOB" ROHRBACH - Men's Soccer - 1973-1977
Bob Rohrbach is from Garden City, New York. He attended Garden City High School. Rohrbach is considered to be one of the best soccer players to ever come to UD by the Dayton Daily News. Rohrbach holds the career records for: Most Career Goals- 49 (1973-76), Most Season Goals-31 and 21 (1975-14 games), Most Goals One Game: 7 vs. Wilmington 1975, Most Goals by Game: 1.5 (1975). Rohrbach was an accounting major while attending UD.
In 1973, Rohrbach played halfback and was selected All-Ohio. He lead the team with 6 total goals, also he had 2 assists and 8 total points. In 1974, Rohrbach scored 11 goals as a sophomore. He was switched to play inside slot as a sophomore. He took 106 shots at goal this year and totaled 2 assists. He tallied 13 total points. Bob scored 4 goals in a game vs. Toledo. Rohrbach was selected Honorable Mention All-Ohio. In 1975, Rohrbach was selected team captain and played forward for the Flyers. He went into the year with 3 years of experience. Rohrbach was selected All-American Second Team. He was also selected team MVP in 1975.In 1976 he was All-American Honorable Mention.
After UD, Rohrbach played 3 years in the NASL (1977-1979). He played for the New York Cosmos, Colorado Caribous, and Detroit Express. In the 1979-1980 season Rohrbach played in the MISL for the Pittsburgh Spirit and Hartford Hellions. He played in a total of 50 games, while scoring 13 goals and having 4 assists. He tallied a total of 27 total points in his career.
