While at The University of Dayton, Donna Burks played women’s basketball and majored in Communication Arts.  Burks was born on October 8, 1962.  She is currently 3rd on the all time career scoring leaders list with 1,850 career points.  She has the 2nd highest all time single season points per game average with 21.6 points per game, and also the 4th highest at 21.1 points per game.  Donna also holds the women’s basketball record for most points in a single game where she scored 43 points against Michigan on Dec 21, 1982.  She also has 2 more of the top five highest points in a single game with 41 points being scored against Cleveland State on Jan 17, 1984, and 37 points against Wright State University on Feb 24, 1983.  Burks led the flyers in both scoring and rebounding her sophomore through senior seasons while averaging a double-double in both her junior and senior seasons.  She is one of the very few members of the team to have over 1,000 career points and rebounds.  She is 2nd on Dayton’s career rebounds list with a total of 1,050 career rebounds.  She is the all time career leader in field goal percentage where she shot an astounding 57.9% for her career.


She was named a D-II First Team All-American both her junior and senior seasons wearing the flyers jersey, and finished 9th in the country in scoring her junior season.  She was an athletic and strong guard who once scored 51 points while grabbing 39 rebounds in a single high school game.
