CHRIS LEMON – Cross Country 2007-2010

Chris Lemon is the only two-time University of Dayton men's cross country qualifier to the NCAA national championship meet.  As sophomores in 2008, Chris and his twin brother Matt were the first Flyers to reach the NCAA meet.  Chris finished 102nd overall, was the 20th sophomore and first finisher from the Atlantic 10 Conference.  He then returned to the meet as senior in 2010, placing 84th.

He was the 2009 A-10 individual men's cross country champion.  He also placed second in 2010 and third in 2008.  In addition, he was NCAA Great Lakes All-Region in 2008 and 2010.

Lemon has posted the top three times in UD history in the 10k event, including the school record of 30:31.5.  His best 8k performance of 24:05.0 was the Flyer record for 16 years.

A team captain and MVP as a senior, Lemon was a two-time Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year, three-time A-10 All-Academic and two-time Academic All-American.

After graduation, he continued to run competitively for another 12 years.  Lemon qualified for the 2016 US Olympic trials in the marathon, and won the Birmingham (Ala.) Marathon in 2023.

Chris currently teaches Spanish at Northmont High School near Dayton.
