DAMON GOODWIN - Men's Basketball 1982-86

One of the greatest shooters in UD history, Goodwin scored 1,191 points in his Flyer career. Currently 29th in school history, he graduated as UD's 13th-leading career scorer.

The 6-foot-6 swingman from St. Marys, Ohio shot .538 from the field and .860 from the line for his career, good enough for fifth and second respectively in those categories at Dayton. He is the only player in UD's top five in career FG% who would not be considered a post player (top four are Sean Finn, Chris Daniels, Henry Finkel and Ryan Perryman)

Goodwin was a key figure in Dayton's 1984 Elite Eight run during his sophomore season. When head coach Don Donoher elected to "go small" and move 6-foot-7 Ed Young to center and 6-foot-4 Roosevelt Chapman to power forward, it was to cement Goodwin into the starting lineup at forward.

Goodwin scored in double digits his first 10 games as a starting forward, and in the most pressurized part of the schedule, made a school-record 36 consecutive FT's in the last nine games of the regular season and UD's NCAA tournament wins over LSU, Oklahoma and Washington.

He also holds UD single-season FT% mark (.931, 95-102) set as a senior. Not just a shooter, he is also ninth in career assist-to-turnover ratio (1.63). Goodwin played on two NCAA teams and one NIT team and his teams were a combined 75-44 during his career. He never missed a game while at Dayton and his 119 consecutive games played are tied for seventh for the Flyers.

Goodwin is currently the head basketball coach at Capital University, and following UD's Hall of Fame game with Duquesne, Goodwin's Capital team will play John Carroll at UD Arena, in the same building where their coach had his Hall of Fame career.
