LAWRENCE "LARRY" KNORRĀ - Men's Basketball, Track, Baseball, Football - 1937-1940Ā 

Larry Knorr was born April 22, 1917 in New York, New York. Knorr was raised in Dayton and attended Stivers High School. While at UD Larry played basketball, baseball, football and track and he gained nine varsity letters: three in football and two each in basketball, baseball, and track. He was a business administration major. As a football player Knorr was a starting offensive end and in his three years of starting the UD football team had a combined record of 18-8-1. He also started on the defensive side of the ball as a defensive end. Knorr was considered to be, ā€œone of the last truly fine multi-sport athletes.ā€ As a sophomore he gained 2nd team All Buckeye Conference honors, and his junior year he gained 1st team All Ohio plaudits. His senior year was cut short by injury but he was named honorary captain. Knorr also played basketball and when he was healthy he was considered the best guard on the team. As a baseball player he was a successful starting and relief pitcher. Knorr’s sophomore and junior track season he set records in the javelin, shot put, 120 yd high hurdles, and 220 yd low hurdles.

After UD Knorr stayed in Dayton and worked as a manufacturer’s representative with L.F. Knorr Associates. Knorr also played professional football in 1942 and 1945 for the Detroit Lions. There he started two and played in eight games in 1942, he started in zero and played in two games in 1945. Larry Knorr recorded two catches for eighteen yards in 1942.
