TONY FURST - Football - 1936-1940
Anthony Raymond Furst was born April 26, 1918 in Dayton, Ohio. Measuring 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 215 pounds, Furst played defensive line for the Flyers from 1936-1940. Under Coach Harry Baujan, Furst excelled on the field lettering his final three seasons of play.
Upon graduating from UD in 1940, Furst continued his career with the Detroit Lions playing 21 games in three seasons. He also went onto coach the Dayton Triangles. As of 2010, Furst is still alive at 91 and his family has owned a North Dayton flower shop for over 100 years.
