REV. CHARELES L. COLLINS - Administraion - 1922-1926 - 1941-1971

Reverend Charles L. Collins is a native of Oxford, Pennsylvania (Philadelphia).  He received his BA from the University of Dayton in 1926, and he later went on to receive his MA and Ph.D.  After being ordained into the priesthood in 1936, Collins returned to UD in 1941 as an instructor in Psychology and from then on held almost every important position at the University.

In 1946 he began his long tenure as chairman of UD Athletic Board.  During his time as chairman he gave much guidance and continued to be a steadying influence, which were major factors in the growth of the UD Athletic program.  He was a strong defender in keeping both the football and basketball programs at major levels and his energies in that direction paid high dividends.

In 1965 he was appointed to the position of Assistant to the President and in 1967 he was elected to the Board of Trustees.  During Collins time he held the position of Registrar, Dean of University, Vice President, Director of Admissions, Director of the Guidance Center, Dean of Students and Administrative Official in charge of the Research Program.
