ROOSEVELT CHAPMAN - Men's Basketball - 1980-1984
Born April 6, 1962 in East Flatbush, New York, measuring 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 195 pounds, Chapman was one of the greatest athletes to wear a Flyer jersey. Earning the nickname Velvet, Chapman under Coach Don Donoher became the Flyers all time leading scorer with 2,233 points and is near the top of almost all statistical categories. Most noted for his success in 1984 when he led the Flyers to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament, losing to the eventual champion Georgetown. Chapman was a three time recipient of the White-Allen Most Valuable Player trophy and was also named to the UD all century team in 2004.Â
After a great career with the Flyers, Chapman continued his career being drafted 54th overall in the 1984 NBA draft by the Kansas City Kings.Â
