MEGAN McKNIGHT MAHLE - Soccer 1998-2001

The heart and soul of the first two Dayton women’s soccer teams to reach the NCAA tournament, Megan McKnight Mahle scored arguably the two most important goals in program history.

She had the goal that sent the Flyers to their first NCAA tournament by scoring with five seconds left to beat Xavier 1-0 in the 1999 Atlantic 10 championship game, and In 2001 NCAA tournament, sent Dayton to Sweet Sixteen by scoring the first goal unassisted and assisting on second in 2-0 win over Miami (Ohio).

A midfielder who holds the UD single-season record for assists (13), she was an Honorable Mention All-American as a senior co-captain in 2001.

One of the most clutch players in Flyer women’s soccer history, Mahle is tied as UD’s second-best career scorer in A-10 tournament play (10 points), and is also tied for second in NCAA tournament play (five points).  She played on teams that were a combined 65-21-2 overall, and 39-3-1 in A-10 action.

The Hamilton Badin graduate never missed a start in her four-year career.

Megan married former UD football player B.J. Mahle, and they reside in Louisville, Ky.
