MIKE WILSON - Football - 1965-1969
Growing up in Ohio his entire life, Mike Wilson made sure to stay true to his roots when he selected to play football at the University of Dayton. Remaining in Ohio kept him close to his siblings: Phil, Tim, Hope, Rhoda and Tamara. Hailing from Wilmington, Ohio Wilson became a legend of the gridiron. He made such an impact that he was inducted into Wilmington High School’s athletic Hall of Fame on Wednesday June 17, 2009. Continuing his dominance at Dayton, Wilson received the “Special Achievement Award” for his impressive play. While at Dayton he majored in education.
Following his time at Dayton, Wilson went on to be drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 14th round as the 343rd pick overall. He played 4 seasons in the NFL, making appearances in 26 games. During his NFL days he played with the Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, and the Kansas City Chiefs. After his 4 year career in the NFL, Wilson went on to play in the Canadian Football League for the Edmonton Eskimos from 1979-1980. It was during this stint that obtained All Star status and earn the CFL’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award.
Setting his name in the record books for all of time, Wilson is the only player to have ever played in the American, the National, the World, the Canadian, and the United States Football League.
