Bob DeMarco was born on September 16, 1938 in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey. DeMarco attended St. Mary’s (Rutherford), where he played football and basketball. He achieved All-State, All-County, and All-Catholic while in high school. He transferred from Indiana University after his freshman year. In 1959 and 1960, DeMarco standing at a 6’3 tall and weighing 235 pounds played tackle for the Flyers. As a senior he was selected to be the team captain (only first time captain since 1954). He was also named team’s MVP as well as the most outstanding lineman. He was named to the All-American Team by the American Football Coaches association. After his Senior Year he played in two different post-season all star games (the Senior Bowl and Blue-Grey game). As a player at UD he achieved honors as an all-Ohio first team and third team selection in his two years at UD. DeMarco received Bachelors in Business Management and Economics.

After UD, the Chicago Cardinals, who later became the St. Louis Cardinals, drafted DeMarco. He played 9 years in St. Louis for the Cardinals. He was traded to the Steelers but Chuck Knoll sent him to Miami immediately. He played for Miami Dolphins in 1970 and 1971, where he went to Super Bowl in his second season. Also DeMarco played for the Browns. DeMarco was elected to play in 3 Pro Bowls (1963,1965, and 1967-did not play). He was an All-NFL Selection in 1967. DeMarco is considered to be one of the top linemen in UD’s history. DeMarco retired in 1972 because he lost his starting job, but came out of retirement to play for the Browns. DeMarco also gained the military status of private.
