RALPH NIEHAUS - Men's Basketball, Football, Baseball - 1935-1939

Ralph Niehaus came to the University of Dayton from Cincinnati where he attended high school at Roger Bacon.  With the nickname “Biff” he had a reputation of being big and strong.  As a freshman he joined the UD boxing team.  Football is where Niehaus played his best.  Harry Baujan said he was the best tackle he coached in his 16 years.  He played both sides of the ball but blocking punts was his specialty.  The football teams he played on had a record of 18-9.  He made the Little All-American team, All Ohio team, and the All Buckeye team.  He lettered three times in football and also received varsity awards for basketball and baseball.

Ralph is married to his wife Trudy which they had eight children.  For over 25 years he worked at General Electric in Cincinnati where he was the manager of Transportation and Facilities.
