SUE CLARK ZIMMERMAN - Volleyball 1978-80
A powerful hitter on some of the best-ever University of Dayton volleyball teams, Sue Clark Zimmerman joins teammates Ann Meyers, Jane Meyers Hovey and Linda Sargent Burton in UD's Athletic Hall of Fame.
After playing on a high school state championship volleyball team at Fairmont West High School in the Dayton suburb of Kettering, Ohio, Clark stayed in her hometown and took her talents to UD, where she was reunited with high school teammates Sargent and Cathy Marschall.
Clark was inserted into the starting lineup immediately, and as a four-year starter, she played on teams that advanced to the Midwest Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (MAIAW) regionals all four seasons.
Teaming with Meyers as a powerful one-two punch on the front line, Clark was the missing piece for teams that won Ohio Association for Intercollegiate Sports for Women (OAISW) state championships, MAIAW regional championships, and finished fifth at the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics (AIAW) national championships in both 1978 and 1979.
Named All-Ohio three times and All-Midwest twice, Clark played on teams that won 161 matches, while losing just 46. The Flyers were 56-5 in her freshman season.
