SYLVESTER MONROE - Football - 1975-1978
 

Sylvester Monroe was the 100th member inducted into the University of Dayton’s hall of fame.  Sylvester played football from 1975 to 1978 as an all purpose back.  He is originally from Louisville Kentucky.  Sylvester kept improving every year and he earned himself a starting position in the spring of 1976.  He was a receiver that was above average as well as a terrific open field runner.  As a sophomore in 1976 Sylvester received MVP.  Other accomplishments throughout his career were a three time letter winner, 28 touchdowns over all four seasons, more than 200 carries each year, and a total yardage of 2,940 feet.  In 1978 the UD football team had the most wins in a season since 1932.  Sylvester’s senior year the team had a terrific record in regular season games with 9 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie.  Today, Sylvester is currently married with children and working in Ohio.
