CHARLES "EDWARD" YOUNG - Men's Basketball - 1982-1987

Charles Edward Young was a forward-center for the University of Dayton men’s basketball team weighing 210 pounds at 6’7. He ranks 17th in career scoring with 1,253 points and is ranked 27th for a career average of 11.7 ppg. His 78 career blocks rank him 6th on the All-time list. Young had his career-winning shot against DePaul in 1984, ending the game with Dayton with the win with 72 points and DePaul with 71. Young played on teams that were a combined 69-49 with one NCAA and one NIT appearance. He was also a starting center on the 1984 NCAA “Elite Eight” team.

After graduation, Young was given the opportunity to pursue his basketball career. He played on the gold-medal-winning USA R. William Jones Cup Team in 1986, going 8-0 in the campaign.
